Why Greece?

Shipping has traditionally been a key sector for the Greek economy since ancient times. The geographical position of Greece and its morphology (with more than 16.000 km of coastline and about 3.000 islands) offered the best environment in order Maritime Industry to be developed.

Greece has the largest merchant navy in the world, accounting for more than 15% of the world’s total deadweight tonnage (dwt) according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Additionally, Greece represents 39.52% of all of the European Union’s dwt.
